Tutorials on testing Java EE 6 components (October, 2008)
I've started to write a series of tutorials about the testability of Java EE 6 components. The first one :
JPA 2.0.
Creating the Paris JUG (November, 2007)
People all over the world have been talking about Java User Groups, I thought it was about time for Paris to have its own JUG. Paris has many IT industries and lots of them are using Java; It's time to bring everybody together (industries, universities and open source communities) and talk about the platform. If you are interested, have a look at the
Paris JUG.
Publication of a tutorial about XWiki (September 10, 2007)
I've published a tutorial on
developpez.com about how to setup up and use XWiki for you company. In this tutorial I explain how to install XWiki with Tomcat and MySQL as well as how to use its rich features (such as access rights, users and groups...). This tutorial is written in French

and is intitled
Créer un site associatif avec XWiki
I am now an Expert Member of the JCP (August, 2007)
The
Java Community Process or JCP, established in 1998, is a formalized process which allows interested parties to be involved in the definition of future versions and features of the Java platform. For a long time it has been closed to big companies, but now it's opened to individuals.
As I am passionate for the Java EE platform, I've applied to be a member of the Java EE 6 (
JSR 316), JPA 2.0 (
JSR 317) and EJB 3.1 (
JSR 318)… and I've been accepted. It's really stimulating to share knowledge and ideas with the main actors. I hope to make a contribution too.
Signing copies of my book (30th June 2007)
Saturday the 30th of June I'll be at the book shop
Le Monde en Tique in Paris signing copies of my book from 3:30pm to 6pm. Thanks to Jean Demetreau for organizing this event. So, if you want to have a drink, talk about Java EE 5 and even buy a book and get it signed, it's the right moment, at the right place (the library is really nice and you can even see
Notre Dame)
Online chat about the book (5th June 2007)
On Tuesday the 5th of June from 5pm to 6pm French time, the
Journal Du Net is organizing a chat (in French) about the Java EE 5 book I wrote. I'll be on the other side of the computer answering questions about the content of the book but also Java EE 5 in general. You just have to
enroll first if you want to participate.
The chat lasted a bit more than one hour. Unfortunately there was not enough time to answer all questions. During the chat there was also a webcam as you can see on the photo. You can read the
transcription
of the entire conversation.
I would like to thank the Journal du Net for giving me the opportunity to talk about my book, about Java, Java EE, Grails, GlassFish… and many other interesting topics.
Publication of the Java EE 5 Book (25th May 2007)
At four days of my brithday, my book about
Java EE 5 has been published. Even if I wrote it own my own, it is a team effort. And I would like to thank my publisher
Eyrolles, my friends who review the book while I was working on it (Zouheir Cadi, David Dewalle, Alexis Midon and Matthieu Riou), the
Cnam University where I teach a Java EE course (Professor Jean-Louis Dewez of course but also all my students), the Community and my family who gave me the energy to write it. I let you discover more about its
content.
Java EE 5 at the Sun Tech Days in Paris (20th March 2007)
During the
Sun Tech Days 2007 in Paris there was a
GlassFish user group
conference. There I made a
presentation about Java EE 5. Based on my
book I explained how a JSP could talk to an EJB 3 using JSF and JPA.
JUnit 4 at Java Polis (14th December 2006)
At
Java Polis I gave a
talk about JUnit 4.
